PADI Shark Petition
It seems a long time ago, but the Captain actually first cut his teeth as a divemaster in the Pacific Northwest and the Hawaiian Islands. Exploration goes hand in hand with conservation and in my heart I have always believed that we should leave the world a better place than we found it. This is especially true of those rarified, virgin areas of the globe in which apex predators still cling precariously to their thrones. Mankind has often left a bloody swath to mark the path of commerce and no species embodies this legacy more than sharks. These masters of the seas fall prey to fish bycatch and targeted fin hunting. As a result, their numbers have plummeted drastically. They need our help. If we mean to keep the seas, as even a pale vestige of their former selves, sharks need to be saved. Please help me and the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) make a stand against the slaughter of these majestic creatures.
